Nebraska vs. Arkansas

Dan and I were able to get some tickets to attend the Nebraska vs. Arkansas game! It was the first Nebraska game we've attended, so we were super excited to go! Dan came home from Mayo, just so we could go together!

Dan still enjoys playing with his gum even at age 27, and I LOVE it!

We got stuck in the crazy Corn Husker Fan traffic on our way to the game and with nothing much to do but look out the window at corn fields, we had a great chance to talk, which was so nice especially since Dan's been gone for so long on externships.

Finally, we made it to Lincoln!

Our tickets were on the eight row from the field...

...and almost even with the 50 yard line!

So excited to be at a Nebraska game!

Love this score board!

Balloons launched after Nebraska's first touch down!

Over 80,000 fans attended the game!

ESPN filming the game!

We were so close! I really think good seats can make any game a truly fantastic one!

The fans were so loud that Arkansas couldn't hear when the play had started. It really threw them for a loop!!

Another Touch Down!

Every time Nebraska would make a touch town, the cheer leaders would run out with big banners which spelled out Nebraska!

I tried to catch it in one picture, but my camera's a little slow for that.
<<  Dan, there's your hint for my Christmas wish ;)  >>

Still zoomed in!

We lucked out with the best weather! It was a beautiful sunny 76 degrees with a light breeze.

Watch out Cheese Heads. Here come Corn Heads!

Featured in Red:

And Yellow:

Since there aren't any professional football teams in Nebraska, all Nebraskans have to cheer for are the Huskers. Therefore, the entire state roots for there one and only team!

GO BIG RED!
aka "GBR" (Oh, the acronyms you learn only in NE)

The spy cam! Isn't he adorable!?

Our mascot!

Another TD!

Followed by the flags!

So happy we decided to go to the game!

Since Dan's going into Radiation Oncology, he was bummed that we didn't bring any sun screen.
He does everything he can to make sure we don't get cancer.
What a great guy!

We sure paid for not taking the sun screen. We both peeled for days. One of my patients stated, "Your nose is peeling." She didn't even ask why. She just straight up noted I was peeling. Thanks captain obvious!
Oh, how I love my job!

The half time show on the scoreboard. They did an impressive formation!

The conductor must have been dying of heat stroke in that robe!

The flag team!

UNL launched a balloon in to space to research the atmosphere.

Coming out of the tunnel.

So happy & in love with this guy!

The band in white.

The massive wave! My favorite!

I mean look how huge that thing is! There's so much Nebraska spirit everyone participates!

And Nebraska Wins!!!

The sea of red!

We went out for some free pizza at Clancy's Pub after the game! We sure are blessed to live in such a great place!

Labor Day Parade

For Labor Day weekend, Dan came home from the Mayo Clinic! After not seeing each other for over a month and after only seeing each other for less than 24 hours the weekend before, Dan came home for the long weekend! It was such a treat! Since we stayed up late Friday night watching movies, we slept in Saturday morning, so we ended up being a tad bit late for the parade, but we didn't miss much!

We still haven't decided if we'll spend our money on a haunted house this year. Since we went to a few on our first date, we might make an exception. Plus, this one looks like it might be pretty good!

Clowns creep me out!

Loved the high school bands.

Random truck floats!

Always love the horses!

More clowns!

Dan saw one of these guys do a back flip.

They sure danced crazy!

This clown almost made me pee my pants he was so creepy!

He seriously almost ran me over and I was quietly minding my own business sitting onf the curb watching the parade and then all the sudden...
BAM
He's coming straight for me...yikes!

Love this guy's costume!
At first, I couldn't figure out if he was really ridding that thing or if he was walking.
He was walking.

Good illusion if you ask me!

Frankenstein, just a creepy as ever.

Grosses me out!

This guy was about ten feet tall and very very creepy!

After the parade, we went home and had a nap. For dinner we had the best Chicago style Papa Murphy's Pizza! Thank Gary and Julie for the gift card for Dan's Birthday! We also watched the new Borne Movie that night. It was so good!
